Kanter joins Al Ittihad on a free transfer
Kanté started his career at the French club Boulogne. He has since played for Caen, Leicester City, and Chelsea. During the 2015/16 season with Leicester City, he became a key player in the midfield and played a crucial role in Leicester City's miraculous English Premier League triumph. In the summer of 2016, he transferred to Chelsea, where he won the English Premier League, FA Cup, UEFA Europa League, UEFA Champions League, UEFA Super Cup, and FIFA Club World Cup, each once during his 7-year tenure.
At the international level, Kanté won the FIFA World Cup with the French national team in 2018 and the UEFA Nations League in the 2020/21 season. This summer, Kanté's contract with Chelsea officially expired, and he ultimately chose to join Al Hilal in Saudi Arabia, where he will be teammates with his compatriot Karim Benzema.
According to journalist Romano, Kanté has signed a 4-year contract, and Al Ittihad will pay him a total salary of €100 million over the course of 4 years. Additionally, he will also receive image rights and additional income from commercial deals.
